Bible verse:
Romans 8:20-28

On Sunday we continued with our series of Life in the Spirit, thinking about a Spirit filled prayer life, taking Romans 8:26-28 as our main scripture.

The key points were;

  • Prayer can be a battle, because of distractions, our humanity, and times of difficulty - and we are weak.
  • In our weakness, the Spirit intercedes for us in accordance with God's will.  Jesus also prays for us, and God the Father knows what we need before we ask for it and promises to provide all our needs.
  • God works for the good of all who love Him, and this "good" needs to be seen from an eternal rather than temporal perspective
  • We can know God, know His truth, know His word and there is no substitute for setting time aside regularly to do this.
For discussion:
  1. What gets in the way of you spending time praying?
  2. What difference will it make to your praying knowing that the Spirit intercedes for you?
  3. How could you deepen your relationship with God?
