Do Good to All People

Bible verse:
Galatians 6:6-10

On Sunday morning we continued our teaching series on Galatians, focusing on chapter 6 verses 6 to 10. If you think we have missed out verses 2 to 5 don’t worry - these will be covered in a couple of weeks time.

We looked at Paul’s encouragement to:

            • Sow what is good in our own lives

            • Do good to all people (we looked at Titus 2v14 and Acts 10v38 to help us with this)

            • Not to grow weary in doing good

In the words of John Wesley, we are to “do all the good you can, by all the means that you can, in all the ways that you can, in all the places that you can, at all the times that you can, to all the people that you can, as long as ever you can”.

Using the analogy of sowing and reaping, we considered how we will bear a harvest if we continue to be patient, persevere and have an eternal perspective, and that just like Jesus, we depend upon the presence and power of God to help us.

For discussion:

Here’s a few possible questions you could use in your small groups, but please feel free to be creative and ask different questions if you wish.

1) What was the main thing that spoke to you from Sunday morning?

2) Look more closely at v9 as a group. How do you think this applies to you today?

3) Look more closely together at v10 in pairs. Brainstorm as many opportunities that you have at the moment to do good to people. Which of these could you try in the next week?

4) Hebrews 10v24 encourages us to "consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds”. Spend some time considering how you can spur one another to do good to all people and then pray for one another.
