Bible verse:
Galatians 2:11-14

On Sunday we continued our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians, looking at  2:11-14. We saw how Peter’s fear had allowed his behaviour to go against what God had previously told him to do. We then went on to consider how fear is an extremely powerful and effective tactic of the enemy’s attempts to derail God’s church and our place in it. I then suggested a few steps that might help us to overcome fear:

  • Know that perfect love drives it out
  • Do it and trust God for the consequences
  • Have someone encourage you – Like Paul!
  • Oppose those who need opposing – Peter should have told circumcision party where to get off!
  • Stop the internal dialogue that says “I can't”
For discussion:
  1. How has fear been used to stop you doing things you believe God has been speaking to you about?
  2. Which, if any, of the steps above could help you overcome fear?
