Bible verse:
Acts 3&4

On Sunday we concluded our series “Father to the fatherless” by looking at the story of Peter and John healing the lame man at the temple in Acts 3 and 4. We particularly focused on their prayer in response to the persecution from the temple authorities and verse 29 & 30 of Acts 4.

We thought about how boldness is needed to overcome fear when it is present. It doesn’t  replace fear it just equips you to continue without being hindered by it. Peter and John needed boldness to speak healing to the lame man in the first place and to then deal with the resulting reaction of the crowd and the temple authorities. We saw from Acts 4:31 and Acts 1:8 that it is the Holy Spirit that enables us to be bold. We then considered how we also need to  be bold in overcoming our fears, many of which come from our culture.

For discussion:

1.       When have you known the Holy Spirit give you boldness to speak about Jesus?

2.       What did it feel like?

3.       How can we be filled with the Holy Spirit in this way?
