Ephesians 1:1-2

Dear Friends,

Grace and Peace to you.

On Sunday, we examined the opening phrases of Paul's letter to the church in Ephesus. We saw how Paul, who had been the persecutor of Jesus’ church, was himself a recipient of the grace of God won for him by Jesus. As a result, Paul knew God’s peace which gave him confidence in his God-given identity. One aim of this series is that we make Jubilee a community of people where we help one another to a deeper dependency on Jesus. This is made possible by His grace and the resultant blessing of peace will help us to bear with one another in love.

For discussion:
  • How does our status as recipients of God’s grace help us to know the blessing of His peace?
  • How does this peace help us to be more certain of our God-given identity?
  • Spend some time praying for one another that in the challenges of life, you will know God’s peace (remember that Paul wrote this letter from his prison cell).
